Some really are “voting for Jesus”
Tricia Erickson, writing for the Christian Post, explains why she wrote-in “Jesus Christ” for President.
Because it is completely evident that Barack Obama has taken our hope and change future from millions of Americans, Romney gets the default vote. Romney will not win because he is the best or even a more tolerable candidate. Romney will walk in to the Office Of The Presidency because he is perceived as the "Lessor of Two Evils."
So who did I vote for? As Charles Spurgeon says, "Of Two Evils, Choose Neither". And this is exactly what I did. I chose neither, instead, writing in the name of God, because I cannot be right with Him and support either candidate, their policies, their support of the destruction of the family and their stances on the killing of innocent babies who cannot speak from within the womb*. I wrote in the name of Jesus Christ.
The lessor of two evils is still evil.
*- Erickson points out that Romneycare, as signed by Mitt Romney, includes taxpayer-funded coverage for all abortions, including elective abortions. Also, Romney profited through Bain Capital in the funding of SteriCycle, a company which provides equipment for incinerating aborted fetuses.
It appears that some people actually are Voting for Jesus after all. (At this writing, 1,608,808 people have registered on the site to Vote for Jesus.)
It’s a safe bet that the bulk of the “for Jesus” votes will come from Romney’s column rather than Obama’s. Enough to impact the election? Possibly. But there are a couple of other questions which trouble me.
Erickson repeatedly refers to “the lessor of two evils” still being evil.
I suppose if someone owned two evils, and instead of disposing of them chose to lease them out, it could be considered evil. But what if the lessor didn’t realize that the entities for lease were evil? Is the lessor still evil?
And what of the lessee? Who but an evil person would lease two evil entities? And what if the lessee didn’t know that the entities were evil?
Would a “defense from evil” clause in the lease protect the lessee? Would the lessor require higher insurance coverage to protect from “acts of God or other deities” or “demon infestations”?
It’s a lot to consider.
