Charity president unhappy about Paul Ryan soup kitchen ‘photo op’

I thought the GOP was the party of Christian values. Values like honesty.

Apparently, not so. Paul Ryan seems to have dropped into a closed soup kitchen unannounced, so he could have pictures taken of himself washing pots and pans that had already been cleaned.

The head of a northeast Ohio charity says that the Romney campaign last week “ramrodded their way” into the group’s Youngstown soup kitchen so that GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan could get his picture taken washing dishes in the dining hall.

Ryan had stopped by the soup kitchen for about 15 minutes on his way to the airport after his Saturday morning town hall in Youngstown. By the time he arrived, the food had already been served, the patrons had left, and the hall had been cleaned.

Upon entering the soup kitchen, Ryan, his wife and three young children greeted and thanked several volunteers, then donned white aprons and offered to clean some dishes. Photographers snapped photos and TV cameras shot footage of Ryan and his family washing pots and pans that did not appear to be dirty.

The head of the non-partisan charity explained that he would not have allowed either a Democrat or a Republican to come to the site for a photo op, because that would put at risk the private donors–of varied political persuasions–who support the soup kitchen.

But that doesn’t really matter to Romney/Ryan, does it?

  1. Politicians do this fake PR stuff all of the time. For instance, Obama had Cleveland’s West Side Market shut down for an hour while he walked around and visited diferent stores pretending to to be just a regular guy when, in fact, he caused everyone in the market to lose business due to his presence. There are a lot more serious issues at hand right now. So, remember that none of these little campaign hijinks are are going to mean squat, come November 6.

  2. Yeah but Obama isn’t the one planning to **** over the poor and middle class while pretending he’s such a good little Catholic. Paul Ryan is
