Is Romney undead? At least one woman thinks so

On this weekend’s “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me” (the NPR news quiz!), GOP candidate Mitt Romney was accused of not merely being stiff, but being a stiff.

Each week on the one-hour show, a panel of often-funny people discuss the news in a “game” format. Podcasts are available HERE, and you can listen to the entire show or individual segments.

One of the segments involves a caller having a chance to complete three limericks about the week’s news. If the caller gets at least two right, then co-host and announcer Carl Kasell will record a greeting on the caller’s home answering machine or cell phone.

If the caller gets no limericks right, my understanding is that a tough guy named Johnny Wet Fingers is sent to “pay a little visit” . . . and menace the caller’s goldfish with a Cthulhu plush toy.

This week, Rosaleen Moore of York, Maine left the audience in stitches with her one-word answer:

SAGAL: Guys. OK, let’s keep it moving. Here is your next limerick.

KASELL: I can face all the undead hordes calmly,
even if they can learn how to bomb me.
In my fort I keep fresh,
and they won’t eat my flesh.
My new home will protect me from _________?

MOORE: Romney.

The crowd erupted in gales of laughter, assuming Ms. Moore was joking. But was she? Or was her response a warning about Romney’s true undead nature? Does he hunger for fresh brains? If so, where does he get them now?

I’ve heard Romney called a robot (or even Mitt Robotney) and called stiff, with his wife suggesting we unzip him and find out how not-stiff he is. He’s even been accused of being “almost reptilian” by Forbes magazine, and “actually a Reptilian” elsewhere.

I have not had any personal exposure to the man, so can’t really judge. What do you think? Is Romney the living dead, a robot, or just some guy lacking somewhat in personality and understanding of the average American’s life?
