Sorry, David, if your faith is so brittle that you have to jump through hoops to protect it then your faith isn't worth anything at all.

and yet, David, the earth does indeed move. And no the Bible is not the literal and inerrant Word of God but if you want to persist otherwise tell me..how much you are selling your daughter into slavery for? Sorry, if you have to interpret the Bible which is what you did with that "pillar" bit you can't also claim that the Bible is literal and inerrant.

You have got to be kidding me. That's a good argument to you? That the earth remains intact? If you had even the most BASIC knowledge of science you would understand gravitational forces and WHY the earth orbits the way it does. I hope your replies are meant as jokes, because if not I'm embarrassed for you.

James, I do not believe in any gods but i find the Bible a fascinating collection of documents. I think that David is wrong but at least his beliefs are consistent, he believes that the bible is the word of God and that's it. how ever I cannot understand how someone can look at the Bible and correctly dismiss their views as being primitive guesses for the the way things work but then accept their primitive god. Why not dismiss all of their ideas?

yeah excep the earth does move. And the Word of God was not written by God but by humans, David. Sorry, the Bible is not the literal and inerrant Word of God. And when the sun explodes which it eventually will either the earth will be fried to a crisp or it will be flung around the galaxy like a billard ball. But when are you going to answer my question, David. Do you think you're serving God by being an arrogant judgemental jackass in His name? Where did Jesus say "Go and preach to others and act superior to them and insult them"? Is your faith so weak David that you have to use God as a weapon and insult others in His name to make yourself feel superior?

The Earth constantly moves. It spins on it's axis, it rotates around the Sun. It rotates around out galaxy. It rotates around our 'local' cluster of galaxies. There is nothing about the Earth that could be described as not moving. The Biblical descriptions of a god created Earth supported by pillars that is covered by a firmament (with the stars attached) that has an ocean above it are fine for bronze age goat herders. I'm suggesting we've moved on.

Dwayne Fagan Is it possible that the word "pillar" is used to describe how God keeps this planet intact and in orbit? And does the fact that God established the earth so that it can't be moved mean that the earth doesn't move, or that it can't be moved out of its place? The Word of God is true and is not in error. Look at the facts: the earth remains intact, in orbit, and doesn't move out of its place.

The Bible is wrong on many, many things. It wrongly says that atheists know that there is a god but deny him it also says that the Earth does not move and is supported by pillars. All these statements are wrong.
