Why the Victorian State Government Parliamentary inquiry must and will fail

Note: This letter is in reference to the Victorian government’s inquiry into the abuse of children by religious and other organizations. -MD

A parliamentary inquiry cannot be deemed independent due to:
a) government complicity in the crimes
b) investigating politicians are not and can not ever be secular due to a belief in
the god of the religions under review.

Independence for this inquiry would mean that those investigating these crimes
should not be a part of the government due to its involvement in the crimes or
religious (Jewish, Christian, Muslim or other religion) due to involvement in the
crimes.

Therefore a parliamentary inquiry will never find on behalf of the victims as it can
never consider the possibility that there is no god and that therefore the catholic
church is therefore a fraud. It can and will never be able to consider the church as
a deluded psychological abusive criminal cult with dominionist and sexual obsessions
that is capable of stealing and selling children, blackmailing and abusing women and
children, bullying and intimidating itself into a position of power and authority in
all aspects of the state and society nor can it ever recommend the suspension of any
activity of a religious belief regardless of the extent of the atrocities through
the use of religion and belief that is presented to an inquiry made up of those with
an unstinting, unswerving belief in the religion or its practices.

A believing parliamentarian cannot even consider the possibility that religion can
be wrong let alone give consideration from the perspective of there being no god
while any of its members believe in the in-errancy, infallibility, eternal
punishment, biblical judgment or other beliefs of their own religion. Such a body
should never be called to investigate crimes carried out by religion and by
government.

A true independent can only come from those who have no belief in the god of the
religions under review and preferably from those who were not indoctrinated into the
religion before they were able to freely choose for themselves.

This parliamentary inquiry can not be considered to be secular in any manner
what-so-ever. The parliamentary inquiry will never be capable of finding against the
beliefs of a religion of members of the inquiry therefore the inquiry can never
determine the truth nor can it find in favor of those survivors and victims who have
no belief in the god or the religion that was used to abuse them and the religion of
those inquiring into those abuses.

Religious believers are simply not capable of conducting this investigation in an
independent manner, nor are thy capable of providing justice for victims and
survivors who are now atheists and non-blievers; will their assessment of what is a
fair and just response towards atheist and non-believer survivors be measured by the
religious beliefs of those making up the inquiry that specifically exclude and
condemn non-believers?

The testimony of atheist survivors simply cannot be accepted nor considered equally
for validation and investigation by believers in the religions under question as the
veracity of the witness due to their non-belief is already cast through the
teachings and beliefs of the religions of the inquirers.

Under such a circumstance the findings of the inquiry can be determined before it
concludes that it must find against atheist survivors and therefore in favor of
their abusers on the basis of religious belief.

The inquiry is already a sham and a fraud as the inquiry begins its life with a
polluted and toxic environment due to a predetermined religious bias against atheist
survivors and their testimonies.

As one would expect from John Brown of Toowoomba, tireless, passionate campaigner for justice for all those suffering the scourge and the effects of the scourge of religious person sexual abuse, here is yet another straightforward, inarguable (unless you want to make a fool of yourself) testimony of bare facts straight from the depths of unadulterared human intellect and reason! and that’s the end of it! There’s nothing more to argue about…unless one wants to argue to the contrary and provide indisputable proof that this is not the case. and that is based on the facts that John outlines, it cannot be otherwise…because of the facts. Readers of John’s article can be as upset as they wish, it will not change a thing. Discrimination against atheist survivors and refutation of their testimonies is something that only a declared attheist survivor can know from experience. is wrong for any reason and that is also inarguable. I was speaking just days ago with a survivor who believes they are in-the-know about this Inquiry. Their opinion was that..”Not all submissions to this inquiry will be heard” Interestingly, when I questioned this on the basis of discrimination I could not get a sensible, factual response. That person belongs to a victims’ collective well known for re-abusing victims for gain and for showing preference to those who acknowledge the christian god. This victims’collective proclaims to be victims. If support is conditional on belief then why would any movement/body/organisation/ government etc. comprised of believers, set up to investigate and make inquiries into religion accused of heinous sexual crimes by members among their ranks have a different attitude? All the more reason to employ any tactic necessary to… “fix” things, including dismissing a complaint on the basis that the victim is a non-believer…and therefore doesn’t know what they are talking about! Comments…anybody? Robin H.

The above, by me…has some parts missing and have no idea what happened…maybe what I wrote about the RC Archbishop of Melbourne, Denis Heartless was unacceptable. He states that the church has nothing to hide and that he welcomes the Inquiry. I wrote that The Deck is already stacked…and that’s the end of it…that bit was omitted. I concurred with what John Brown wrote…the church has its fingers in all “pies”. About the victims’ collective…I wrote:- “This victims collective proclaims to be SUPPPORTING victims.” ..so, if those who support victims discriminate against them for their beliefs, what chance have victims, irrespective of their beliefs, of receiving support, acknowledgement and assistance from many of those associated with this Inquiry who will, in some way, find themselves facing accusations by victims against their churches, their morals, their beliefs? As with the Ferderal Parliamentary Inquiry of 2003-5, there will be lots of wailing and weeping, words of commiseration, counselling for the traumatised parliamentary officials involved…maybe paid holidays to the Carribean…but in the end, nothing for victims, and the good old religions and their sheep- herding dictators will continue to burn their way into humanity’s minds with fear and, having succeeded, then herd us so we cannot escape and survive then bamboozle us with infallible decrees, dubious religious god-inspired texts and maxims that, if denied, mean damnation to hell fire. Meanwhile, the warped religious ones, sheilded by their blinded supporters will contine to indulge in their own hellish crimes against vulnerable children and adults. Its about discrimination, lies and self-serving debauchery on the one hand and about “fixing it” when it all begins to leak out on the other. A good raport between the shepherds and the sheep! This Inquiry will bring no more than the Federal Inquiry of 2003-5 into The Abuses of Children in Institutional Care….and that was 0! Now lets click “Post Comment” and see what happens.

      • Robin - No part of your comment was censored; I don’t know what happened to make parts go missing.

THE VICTORIAN PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY COMMITTEE ARE DOING A STERLING JOB. The Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry goes ahead without discrimination and there have already been arrests by a special police Task Force of paedophile priests. The Committee for Family and Community Development that are dealing with the Inquiry into how religious and other non government organisations respond to complaints of sexual abuse have a mammoth job ahead. So far they have travelled outside of the parliamentary complex to places in Victoria where there were many victims of sexual abuse by clergy to interview groups and individuals. So many submissions on their website already and I guess that’s only the tip of the iceberg. I am told that nobody who wants to be heard will be denied a hearing. I see that already, the Committee have a really good grasp on the terrible truth and understand exactly what the victims are up against – especially those victims of the Holy Roman Catholic Church/ Holy Mother Church clergy.(here a thought – what Mother hands her children over to be sexually abused?) Up until this point the Inquiry seems to be doing a sterling job. I do however despair about the Royal Commission with at least one Commissioner that I know about being a prominent Catholic who has and does hold important position working for the RC church. How can he be unbiased? As I commented previously, the Catholic Church has its fingers in all pies and indeed does have the capacity to corrupt any investigation by any means. However, when many voices all cry out and all tell of having been subjected to the same modus operandi, they cannot be denied. The RC church can put up as many smoke screens as it wants, at last it has condemned itself! The so called Truth, Justice and Healing ‘thingy’ that Cardinal Pell has put in place has nothing to do with any of what it proclaims is its purpose. Its sole purpose is to COVER UP in a bigger hurry than before, and it is obvious to most people at last, thanks to some very outspoken and brave advocates standing for victims without any self interest at all.Even the ordinary people are beginning to see the light! There remains, notwithstanding, that there will always be those who say they are on the side of the victims but who are there because of their own vested interests and what they can gain from taking this stance. I worry about the organisations that are appointed post such Inquiries who then receive massive amounts of funding to minister to victims and who, after a couple of years of having ridden on high waves of applause for their altruism suddenly have no more funds….all spent on PR and Admin, no more emergency finance for any victim in dire need! If the Victorian Inquiry fails to deliver to victims what it has promised it will be because it has gone down the same track as the Senate Inquiry into abuses of Children in Institutional Care 2003 by alotting funding to victim organisations whose vested interests gobbled it all up leaving victims with nothing. For the present, however, all seems to be proceeding inside sensible, well directed perimeters wherein, it seems, that victims will finally be the beneficiaries of an Inquiry that was meant to help them personally. We can only wait to see how it runs its course and try not to get discouraged along the way. It will be a long drag.
