Thanks James for your well articulated responses. I have tried to point out all the atrocities committed in the name of God by Catholics to my extremely devout Catholic mother who refuses to hear any of it & quickly claims "persecution" & yet has no problem bashing on any other belief that doesn't align with her own. I am not against Catholics or Christians, or Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, etc. etc. I simply wish more people would approach their religious/spiritual beliefs with a more open mind & realize that all institutions have done both good & bad things, no one religion is immune from this. Also, thanks for the link to the pastor advocating genocide of homosexuals. Well, I don't think "thanks" is really the right word. Felt sick to my stomach listening to that garbage spewing from his pulpit. UGH!!!! Disgusting. And he is suppose to be a representative of Christ?

I dont hate the Catholic church, Kacy. I disagree with it on some things and I, unlike you, understand the actual history of us Christians instead of whitewashing it. Sorry, I'm honest enough and intelligent enought to not pretend that Christainity doesn't have "warts" like those people I mentioned. We Christians are not perfect, we're not morally superior and there's segments of Christianity that are exactly like the segments of Islam that attacked us in 2001. Denying the actual history of Christianity so you can whitewash it accomplishes what? Shouldn't we Christians value truth?

Marissa Finder first off Marissa...Hitler was a born Catholic. His entire justification for what he did is straight out of what was Christian teaching at the time. By the way estimate for the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust is anywhere from 4 to 6 million. There was no real division between Catholics in Germany and the rest of Catholicism because the anti-semitism spouted by HItler and the rest of the Nazi's was straight out of teachings of the Catholic church and the rest of Christianity. For 2000 years Christianity had labeled the entirety of Judaism as "Christ killers" and sought at every turn to discriminate and oppress them. That is what the vast swath of Christianity taught...until after the Holocaust when Christianity was faced with taking responsibility for the demon it's hatred created. As for this piece: Radical Muslim believes it is okay to kill in some circumstances, even if it requires your own death....hence the Taliban. You are aware that just in the last 2 months 6 separate Christian preachers have called for genocide against homosexuals, right? Then there is the bombing of abortion clinics by Christians and oh yes...the Oklahoma City bombing was done by two jagoffs with ties to the terrorist organization known as the "Army of God" whose central tenet is the overthrow of the US government and to replace it with a "Bible based government." So I would suggest, Marissa, that you not hold us Christians up as oh so morally superior. And I would also suggest that you not paint Catholicism as somehow separate from the rest of Christianity. I don't know if you're Catholic..but I am..and the Catholic church is neither superior to nor different then the rest of Christianity. And there was a time when the Catholic church did indeed act exactly like the Taliban. It was called the Crusades. Oh and the witch hunts too. Considering what the overly right wing Cardinals and Archbishops have been spouting here in the United States as of late..they seem to heading towards a repeat of that particular period in Catholic church history.

Actually, as an example I unfortunately have it from one I consider a biased source....however, the report seems to be accurate as it only happened a few months ago...and from what I read here I remember reading elsewhere when it happened.but my point is that when the Muslims attacked a Catholic mission.....the Church did not emphasize that aspect, they emphasized that no one should attempt retaliation. they could have issued a call to arms...I'm sure people would have taken it seriously...but they stressed the opposite.
