For months, the American Family Association has been running a boycott against Home Depot because the company "has chosen to sponsor and participate in numerous gay pride parades and festivals."
Today, the AFA’s Executive Vice President, Buddy Smith, traveled to a Home Deport board meeting to present the company with a petition bearing nearly a half-million names of those who have vowed to stop shopping at Home Deport stores until the company decides to "remain neutral in the culture war."
But according to this update Smith gave to Bryan Fischer today, it sounds like the Home Depot Chairman Frank Blake basically told the AFA to take a hike and reiterated their commitment to promoting diversity. Smith was especially troubled by this stance because, as everyone knows, "those who are caught in this trap of homosexuality are in the clasp of Satan":

Not ONLY are they a good store to shop at, they're run by good people. Warms the cockles of my heart. Glad to know I won't have to stop recommending them to friends(they have a great selection of stuff for new homeowners).
Wow, I'll now add Home Depot to my list of preferred stores. I hadn't much cared for them before, but this stand puts a whole new light on the company. Kudos.
I'm so glad to see unanimous support FOR Home Depot and universal condemnation / DAMNATION of the bigots at A.F.A. America is seeing the light… and it's NOT from the religious fundamentalists! Their blatant bigotry and intolerance is backfiring on them and they're too stupid to realize it!
Whats amazing to me, is you guys still believe your the majority. If so, Cali would have passed gay marriage. If it fails to get the vote on the Lib-coast, you know you are a minority. Most could care less about gay or straight…It's when you try to shove the lifestyle down everyones throat, and pass it off as they need to be understanding that gets people upset/
Macy's is doing some awesome things towards diversity too. One in San Antonio fired a clerk for blatantly discriminating against a transgendered woman.
Note to self: next time I need home improvement supplies, make sure I give my custom to Home Depot, they have *earned* my support!
I disagree with Buddy Smith; Home Depot leadership is demonstrating much better citizenry then the leadership of the American Family Association.
Now, does this mean shorter lines at my local Home Depot?
Awesome, so much respect for their stance! C'mon America. It is 2011, hello…………………..?
