May 21, 2011 church spams Washington Post article about end of world

Their leader, broadcaster Harold Camping, has determined that May 21, 2011 will be the Rapture. They show their support by spamming newspapers.

Fans of Family Radio have deluged the Washington Post with comments supporting Camping and Family Radio after an article describing Camping’s calculations ran.

It seems Mr. Camping believes that “The number 5, . . . equals “atonement.” Ten is “completeness.” Seventeen means “heaven.” ”

[5 x 10 X 17]^2 is 722,500, the number of days between Jesus’ death (April 1, 33 CE) and May 21, 2011 CE.

The article author asks of readers,

“What do you make of religious determinations of end times? Do 2012 predictions worry you? Does Camping’s case compel you? Or are you more worried about crunching the numbers on our national debt than divining the date of the end of the world?”

We may not know for a while what author Elizabeth Tenety’s regular readers think, because Camping’s supporters swamped the site with comments. Enlarge the screenshot at left to read those present at this writing.

I do have one question for Mr. Camping: Where does he get squaring the number? Shouldn’t it be [5 x 10 x 17]^3, with the 3 representing the Trinity? That’d place the date not 722,500 days, but 614,125,000 days from April 1, 33 CE . . . or Tuesday, May 21, 1,681,450.

That might not be so good for encouraging donations.

  1. Wow. I wish I had some cash to buy these peoples homes and properties cheap.
"I'll give you cash right now and you can use the money to spread HIS holy word!"
Would I take advantage of these peoples idiocity?
    Believe it.

    • Then you can sit there in a pile of your useless money as the entire Universe burns, enjoy yourself, you poor greedy little man.

      • Fred, would you be willing to donate all of your money to Secular News Daily on May 20th?

We would be pleased to use the funds to spread the Gospel once you are successfully Raptured.

        • These people are trying to save you from the fate of the unsaved:

          Jeremiah 25:33
And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.

  2. His name is Harold Camping (not Camper). See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Camping

    • Right you are, sir! I've made the correction. Thanks!

  3. First of all, the people who believe May 21 2011 will be the rapture/judgment day/worldwide earthquake/no more mercy/153 days until end of the world – DAY,, are not a church, and their leader is Almighty Holy God, the Lord Jesus Christ, not a man, Harold Camping. He is just a teacher. Mr Camping is one of many people proclaiming the truth. what's this about "spamming"? does that mean repeating the same comment over and over? Or is it just that the true children of God, who know the truth form the bible because Holy God has opened their spiritual eyes, all post similar comments? The Bible is one book, there is one God, one truth, so , the comments that are truth would of course be very similar. The majority of people in this world are in darkness and do not like the light. For light, see weCANknow.com.

  4. The Bible is True in every Word. God is preparing the world for the Battle of Armageddon on May 21, 2011. Those who will not search the Bible out are those that Jesus will come upon as a thief in the night. But the elect, those God chose before the foundation of the world have been given notice as the Bible declares in >(Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.)
And the world that hears this God has provided a wonderful Word> (Acts 13:40-41 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets; Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.)
This is the Day of Salvation > Cry to God for Mercy that it may be that He may save you.
