Pope's Preacher: Criticizing Church for Child Rape is Like Anti-Semitism
Pope Benedict’s personal priest, Rev. Raniero Cantalamessa, has equated criticism of the Catholic church for decades of child rape with anti-Semitism. Yes, stating that Catholic priests have raped children and had it covered up by the Church is, in his view, a hate crime.
Claiming that a Jewish friend had written him to put forth this theory, Cantalamessa read from the “friend’s” letter:
Quoting from the letter from the friend, who wasn’t identified by Cantalamessa, the preacher said that he [the "friend"]was following “‘with indignation the violent and concentric attacks against the church, the pope and all the faithful of the whole world.’”
“The use of stereotypes, the passing from personal responsibility and guilt to a collective guilt remind me of the more shameful aspects of anti-Semitism,’” Cantalamessa said his friend wrote him.
Cantalamessa, conveniently enough, claimed he’d been thinking about Jews when he received this letter. Reflecting on the coincidence that Passover and Easter occur at the same time (possibly because Jesus was executed right after Passover, I don’t know, maybe?), it occurred to him that:
[Jews] know from experience what it means to be victims of collective violence and also because of this they are quick to recognize the recurring symptoms.
So, wait. Who has been the victim of collective violence? The Catholic Cult, or children raped by priests . . . hundreds of thousands in the US alone, at last estimate?
Finkelhor and Jones have used data from National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS) to make a national estimate of the number of sexual abuse cases substantiated by
child protective service (CPS) for the period from 1992 to 2000. Using data from more than forty states, they report that the number of substantiated sexual abuse cases peaked at
approximately 149,800 in 1992, followed by annual declines of 2 to 11 percent per year through 2000 when the number of cases reached a low of approximately 89,355.5.
The gall of the Catholic Church to try to lay a guilt trip on outraged parents and children, to compare their righteous indignation against crimes perpetrated against their communities and covered up to hate crimes based in bigotry! Have these people no shame?

I saw this on a few of the websites I check for my news and it floored me. If the rapes and cover up hadn't have happened then I could see them saying this. I feel that enough isn't being done by the leaders of many countries where these rapes and cover ups have committed.
Yeah, amazing how the Catholic Cult can be the VICTIM in this!
