Call for Authors

Do you like what you read here at the Paliban Daily? Maybe you’d like to join our team!

We’re looking for:

• Guest posts from related blogs, authors, or other interested/interesting people;
• Writers interested in particular subject areas;
• “Generalist” writers;
• Writers offering an international perspective.

Articles need not be 1,000 words or more; sometimes brevity is best, and sometimes you just don’t have the time for in-depth analysis. That’s why we created the “In Brief” section, for those quick ‘heads up’ type articles.

Our major sections are:

• Announcements + Events: Site-related announcements, and events of interest to our readers (anything from BoobQuake to Camp Inquiry, or anything in between);
• Buzz – Chatter – Gossip: Dirt on religious leaders and politicians and their secret lives — what they’re up to when not at the podium;
• In Brief: Very brief, 200-250 word synopses of news items;
• Opinion: Editorials, reviews of books, movies, etc., philosophy (including atheist/antitheist philosophy), humor/satire;
• Palin Watch: Keeping tabs on would-be theocrat Sarah Palin’s latest misadventures;
• Religion + Culture: Religion’s attempts to influence culture. Religion in the schools, religious intolerance;
• Religion + Law: Court cases and attempts to legislate morality;
• Religion + Politics: Politicians mixing with theocrats;
• Religion + Science: Evolution/Creationism, life science, science about belief/believers;
• Woo Review: Debunking New Age-type superstitious beliefs which are filling the “religious void”. Think Deepak Chopra, Oprahism, homeopathy, etc.

First, drop us a line via the Contact Form. Let us know that you want to do some writing. If you’re interested in a particular subject area, let us know that as well!

We’ll ask you to send us a writing sample. If you already have your own blog, just point us to it and we’ll have a look.

We’ll set you up on the site (tell us what username you want). Once we’ve set you up, you can contribute articles to the main site by clicking HERE. By default, you’ll have “Contributor” status. That means that you can write posts and submit them for review.

Once Mike or Jenny reviews your post and approves it, it will be live on the site for all to see! We review submitted posts daily. Please see the ‘Author Guidelines‘ to understand what we’ll be looking for, and ‘What’s In It for Me?‘ for information about revenue sharing and how writing for the Paliban Daily can increase exposure for your work.
