Pope: Condoms Spread AIDS

In a move surprising people all over the world, Pope Benedict today announced that condoms are responsible for increasing the spread of AIDS in South Africa.

In the past, Benedict has claimed only that the Catholic church supports abstinence to prevent the spread of AIDS; now, he is taking a more insistent approach:

“You can’t resolve it with the distribution of condoms,” the pope told reporters aboard the Alitalia plane headed to Yaounde, Cameroon, where he will begin a seven-day pilgrimage on the continent. “On the contrary, it increases the problem.”

While it’s true that passing out condoms without a concurrent campaign to educate and promote safer sex is about as helpful as passing out iPads without electricity, it is disingenuous to attack condom distribution itself as harmful and claim that condoms increase the spread of HIV. Of course, since the Catholic church officially condemns condom use and other forms of birth control, it’s not a surprising approach from the Pope.

  1. Now, if Mr. Benedict would denounce man/boy love as a mortal sin deserving stoning or denounce the idolatry of Mary worship, the Catholic Church could inch closer to true Christianity.

  2. Let’s not bet on that happening any time soon!

  3. Fuck the moterfucking, power hungry, self aggrandized bigot in the stupid fucking Hat!
