In a move surprising people all over the world, Pope Benedict today announced that condoms are responsible for increasing the spread of AIDS in South Africa.
In the past, Benedict has claimed only that the Catholic church supports abstinence to prevent the spread of AIDS; now, he is taking a more insistent approach:
“You can’t resolve it with the distribution of condoms,” the pope told reporters aboard the Alitalia plane headed to Yaounde, Cameroon, where he will begin a seven-day pilgrimage on the continent. “On the contrary, it increases the problem.”
Fundamentalists everywhere point out that a stopped clock is right twice a day, and they think Benedict has one more coming to him . . . Think he’ll get one right for real?

Now, if Mr. Benedict would denounce man/boy love as a mortal sin deserving stoning or denounce the idolatry of Mary worship, the Catholic Church could inch closer to true Christianity.
